Cough
USE
I have found this remedy works best for a dry, unproductive cough, the type that feels like an unrelenting tickle at the base of your throat, often at the tail end of a cold.

Studies have shown that theobromine found in chocolate acts as a cough suppressant, inhibiting the cough mechanism.

What WILL NOT work:

-
Milk chocolate
-
Chocolate candy bars
-
Chocolate chip cookies
-
Chocolate milk

The mixture must consist of pure, sugarless, dark cacao mixed with honey as a carrier. I find adding a bit of peppermint oil makes it taste especially good.

RECIPE

Ingredients:

1 cup cacao powder (preferably organic)
1 cup honey (preferably local and organic)
15 drops peppermint oil (optional)

Directions:

Blend all 3 ingredients in a medium-size bowl until smooth and creamy.
Pour into16 oz glass jar and seal.

Dose:

Step 1. Slowly dissolve one teaspoon on your tongue allowing it to slowly coat your throat.
Step 2. Wait 20 minutes.
Step 3. Repeat Step 1

Personal experience has shown that this can stop your cough for about 6-8 hours.
